Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts and Skills
The AAAIB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills focuses on the development of counselling skills. This qualification aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to a range of counselling skills and an understanding of the importance of using counselling skills within published ethical frameworks, such as those from the National Counselling Society (NCS), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
For many this is the first step towards becoming a counselling practitioner. This qualification may also be used to launch a long-term personal development plan towards higher qualifications.
This course is quality checked by the National Counselling Society.
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Theory, Skills and Ethics
The AAAIB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Theory, Skills and Ethics aims to further develop the skills and knowledge gained at Level 2. This qualification enables learners to work towards becoming a reflective practitioner of counselling by considering theories of human development, self-awareness, supervision and issues of difference and diversity.
It also provides knowledge and understanding of the three main core theories and theorists that underpin counselling and addresses the nature of psychological problems and how they may be approached. The specialist skills and knowledge gained in this qualification will be applicable in a range of working contexts. It will enable learners to understand the need for a firm grasp of a coherent theoretical approach to counselling or supporting others. This is particularly important prior to starting work in a supervised placement if learners progresses to Level 4.
This course is quality checked by the National Counselling Society.
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Practice (QCF)
The AAAIB Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice (QCF) is aimed at learners whose qualification goal is to achieve professional status in counselling. It may also be appropriate for those working in roles where counselling skills are needed: for example, nursing, teaching, social work, voluntary sector, the police and armed forces.
This course is accredited by the National Counselling Society and, at the discretion of the Society, is a route onto a national register of counsellors which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority
Level 5 Diploma: Psychotherapeutic Counselling
The AAAIB Level 5 Diploma in Psycho-therapeutic Counselling provides opportunities for critical self-reflection and enables learners to work towards the production of a research proposal. The proposal will cover the field of counselling research and the methodological approaches to enquiry to assess and evaluate the practice of counselling and/or a topic relevant to the field.
All counselling courses are run in accordance with nationally recognised guidelines and adhere to a nationally recognised ethical framework. The training is conducted by qualified psychotherapists, counsellors and supervisors.
